Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for doubts to be asked about his position after another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the team's worst run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received significant support from above,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but when you're in a managerial role and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this match yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Player Response

The manager highlighted known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a phase such as this with performances so bad.”

He finished, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to the top, show everyone once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
