British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on December 29th, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his management team had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the global fight fans offered sympathy for the star in the following the heartbreaking incident.
