Spurs Manager Thomas Frank Calls Vicario Booers 'Not Real Fans'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Tottenham and Raise Tension on the Manager

Spurs fans who booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were told later "they cannot be true Tottenham supporters" by manager Thomas Frank.

Spurs conceded two goals in the opening initial moments to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th Premier League at home loss of 2025.

But the primary topic of discussion was the visitors' next score when the keeper lost the ball well beyond his area.

The goalkeeper came out to handle a high pass and took the ball towards the sideline.

But, rather than kicking it into touch, the Italy international turned and tried to clear, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was controlled by King.

The forward passed the ball off to Welsh midfielder Wilson, who bent a strike into the net from the sideline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.

Seconds later when the ball came to Vicario once more, some Spurs fans jeered him.

Spurs were booed off at half-time, with the side 2-0 down, and once more at the final whistle.

A particular of those jeering episodes truly angered the manager.

"I heard some of our fans reportedly jeered the situation and booed following, which, in my view is totally unacceptable," the Danish manager stated about the fans' response to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals can't be true Spurs supporters that do that. Alright jeering following the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are backing one another, we are with each other going forward."

Tete had given Fulham a early advantage prior to Harry Wilson's strike – with Kudus netting for Tottenham in an better second-half performance.

Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Hart remarked that the second score was "completely preventable".

"I certainly understand the supporters' frustration," Hart continued. "I know the role the keeper is playing. He's a excellent team player, he's a real leader in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your decisions.

"The keeper was heavily involved in what ended up to be the winning score."

'It's Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'

Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Match

Italian international the keeper is in his third season with Tottenham.

The 29-year-old said following the game that he had to take the criticism.

"The second score was a mistake of my own, I accept accountability for that," he said.

"My aim was to clear the ball far and I simply hit the ball in a bad way. It was an even bigger challenge to climb."

He stated receiving jeers "comes with football".

"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he continued. "The team can't be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. The fans have the right to do as they see fit.

"It is on the team to stay increasingly calm, to concentrate on ourselves. The team is missing in composure and calmness to overturn results. This match is a bad loss and it's tough to accept."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Returned to the Goal Line'

In spite of the keeper's error, it was far from an easy score for Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the next longest-range Premier League score of the season – following Adams' 43.3 yard goal for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which interestingly also occurred on the same day.

The goalscorer stated he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open net to aim for.

Ten moments passed between the keeper coming out of his box and the midfielder striking – which was 5 seconds after the clearance.

"I felt like the goalkeeper was out of the area for a long time," he said.

"I was surprised not one of the back four went back to the line. When not one of them covered the net, my interest sparked somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie fell too, which gave me a little extra opportunity. Then it was solely about trying to achieve the correct connection and get it towards goal. I had a positive feeling, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Bad Spell, All Appears to Work Against You'

Booing While We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unjustifiable - the Manager

Although Vicario's mistake dominated coverage, this was an all-round poor performance for Tottenham to continue their home ground struggles.

The match was their 10th home loss of the year in the Premier League, a joint team record along with nineteen ninety-four and 2003.

They still have home games against the manager's old side Brentford and title holders Liverpool to play before the end of the season.

Only one of those wins have occurred after the manager took over from his predecessor in the summer.

"If you are behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a mountain to climb," stated the boss.

"When you're in a bad spell, everything seems to go against you as well – the first was a deflected attempt, the second is a error from Vic.

"This result leaves us in a position where we have suffered another game. Every game has a single narrative, this game we lost in the first six minutes.

"We simply need to keep working. The later period was much better and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to develop."

Tottenham have been defeated in four straight home capital clashes for the first time in the top division.

And they are averaging 9.5 attempts and three point two shots on target per match in the division – their poorest rates on record in a one season (dating back to the 2003-04 season).

Ex- Fulham midfielder Murphy stated that the manager has to endure the criticism.

"He's got accept the stick," the pundit remarked. "He's taken a prestigious job at a major team with enormous anticipation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that accompanies that.

"The performances at their stadium have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
