The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest Far Cry instalment that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for embracing violence and mayhem with equal excitement, all while weaving captivating, socially charged tales. No wonder then that the network’s new order for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two visionaries whose projects have embodied all of those things.
About the Series
Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game series, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' structure by featuring a fresh location and cast of characters in each season.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the creator.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners always encourages me with their ongoing belief and backing.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology show. Every instalment is a variation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can shift from season to season, while always examining the core of humanity through this complex and chaotic lens, is a dream come true. I’m excited to work with Rob and bring our common unconventional, visionary sensibility to the television.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
